| CONSTITUTION OF WESTWOOD HIGH SCHOOL BUSINESS
CLUB Article I - Name Section 1. The official name of this organization shall be Westwood High School Business Club with a Business Professional of America Chapter and a Distributive Education Club of America (DECA) Chapter. Article II - Purposes Section 1. To motivate and vitalize the instruction in business services and technology and marketing/entrepreneurship. Section 2. To assist students in refining their career objectives. Section 3. To encourage the development of occupational skills, knowledge and abilities. Section 4.To encourage leadership ability through participation in educational, vocational, civic, recreational and social activities. Article III - Organization Section 1.The Westwood High School Business Club is an organization of the students enrolled in Business Services and Technology and Marketing/Entrepreneurship classes. Article IV - Membership Section 1. The Business Professionals of America Chapter is chartered as a member of Michigan Business Professionals of America. The Distributive Education Club of America Chapter may be chartered as a member of Michigan DECA upon approval of the Michigan DECA Executive Council. Section 2. Members shall be students who have career objectives in business and are enrolled in our high school program. Members must pay dues as established by Michigan BPA/DECA and will be eligible to hold BPA/DECA offices, participate in BPA activities, serve as voting delegates, or to otherwise represent Michigan in National BPA/DECA affairs of the High School Division only as approved by Michigan BPA/DECA. Professional Members--These shall be persons associated with or participating in the professional development of BPA/DECA as approved by the Michigan Association of BPA/DECA. Such persons will pay dues as established by their association and may consist of education supervisors, employers, parents of BPA/DECA members, advisory committee members, school administrators, teachers, and others willing to contribute to the growth and development of BPA/DECA. Article V - Voting Section I. WHS Business Club members shall exercise franchise in Michigan BPA/DECA through voting delegates as may be approved by the Michigan Association of BPA/DECA. Article VI - Meetings Section 1. Regular meetings shall be held at least once each month during the school year. Section 2. Parliamentary procedure of all meetings will be governed by ROBERT’S RULES OF ORDER, REVISED. Article VII - Officers Section 1. The officers of the BPA/DECA Chapters shall consist of a President, Secretary, Treasurer, Historian, Reporter, and Parliamentarian; each shall exercise the usual duties of the office to which he has been elected. Section 2.The officers of the BPA/DECA Chapter shall be installed at the last regular meeting of the school year. A majority vote of the High School members shall be necessary to elect. Article VIII Section 1. The WHS Business Club shall be a BST/Marketing/Entrepreneurship teacher of Westwood. Article X - Emblem and Colors Section 1. The emblem of BPA/DECA shall be a circular design as described in the BPA/DECA Handbook. Section 2.The colors of the BPA Chapter shall be Red, Blue, and Beige. The colors of the DECA Chapter shall be Blue/Gold. Article XI - Amendments Section 1.To amend this Constitution, the proposed amendments must be presented in writing by a BPA/DECA member to the president. The president will present the amendment to the membership where it must be approved by a three-fourths majority vote for adoption. Article XII - Rules, Regulations and By-Laws Section 1. Such rules, regulations and by-laws as are deemed necessary for the proper conduct of this organization shall be adopted. Section 2. No rules, regulations or by-laws shall be adopted which are contrary to this Constitution. Section 3. In all meetings, ROBERT’S RULES OF ORDER, REVISED, shall serve as standard procedure. Section 4. All students must meet the academic eligibility criterion as set forth in school policy. Section 5. Any member who breaks the rules and regulations governing conduct on trips will be immediately and permanently discharged from the club. Section 6. All members are required to participate in fund-raising activities. Section 7. Funds remaining in an individual student’s accounts shall, upon graduation, revert to the Westwood Business Club general fund. |
