THE ECONOMICS OF BUSINESS
½ credit–semester
Prerequisite Grades 10-12
Students will be introduced to business and economic principles and how they relate to the world around them. Students will discover the role business and economics plays in their personal lives and in domestic and global economies as they move from the basics of demand, supply, market, equilibrium, and decision-making to market institutions, the national and international economies, the role of government, and public policy. Students will deepen their understanding of the basic economic concepts and apply them to national and international problems. They will learn about the banking system, stock market, taxation, productivity, marketing, and advertising. Students will use their economic knowledge to make informed decisions as consumers and to participate as citizens in deciding matters of economic policy .
